Early 16th Century Sabatons
Sabatons completely enclose the foot in armour. These sabatons come from the early part of the 16th Century and were made for a Battle of Flodden (1513) event. They are articulated an fit over the top of the shoe or boot, they are made to go with leg armour, they would not be worn by themselves. The Sabaton and then lower leg armour fall out fo fashion as the 16th Century progressed being replaced by stout riding boots.
