Comb Morion
Comb Morion

This is a Comb Morion. Possibly the archetypal helmet of the 16th century, often misnamed the Spanish Morion. Combs vary in height. They were added to provide a raised crest to the helm to deflect blows from the head.

These helmets first appeared fairly early in the 16th century and are still around at the end and into the 17th century although they would have been quite old fashioned by then.

This helm has a blackened finish.
